我們熟悉的國語懷念老歌- 由老牌歌后「張露」唱出俏皮、節奏輕快的"靜心等"，其實是翻唱早期美國鄉村音樂吉他手-Merle Travis在1947年首次發表的"Sixteen Tons"(十六噸/煤炭)。Merle Travis生長在一個肯塔基州的Muhlenberg 郡的礦場挖煤礦的家庭，他寫這首歌的靈感就是來自於童年生活，和父親曾說過的一些話..那寫實卻無奈紀錄了早年美國煤礦工人的悲慘生活，在當時迷醉在余光《青春之歌》學生年代的自己早已深刻印象..

I picked up my shovel and I walked to the mine
(我拿起鐵鏟就往礦洞走去)

I loaded sixteen tons of number-nine coal 
(我載了十六噸九號煤後)

後來Tennessee Ernie Ford在1955年翻唱的冠軍歌曲，接著1957年 -五黑寶合唱團The Platters也曾重唱。主唱者是The Platters樂團中的男低音Herbert Reed，Herbert的嗓音很特殊，不只是低沉，而是在低沉中似乎還帶有共鳴….
